Alison Jackson
Filed Under Insolite | Leave a Comment
You might have heard about Alison Jackson, controversial photographer which tries to makes us think about our relation (or fixation as shes says) with fame and celebrity culture.
She’s currently exhibiting her art in LA and will be in Paris from April 2 to 7.

From a recent presse release :
Alison Jackson creates films, photographic images and sculptures about our fixation with fame and celebrity culture. These Mimeses use look-a-likes of celebrities and public figures to create a photographic or filmic image, which challenges the observers’ perception of reality by creating a false reality. Only on second or third glance does the viewer question the truth of what they are seeing. Jackson describes her work as an exploration of what we see and what we imagine, the interplay of our voyeuristic needs and our urge to believe, challenging the photographs’ claim to tell the truth.

Not fully understood chemical reaction
Filed Under Insolite | Leave a Comment
What they do know: Several reactions take place at once. One of them produces iodine, which gives the amber color. Hydrogen peroxide reduces other chemicals into iodide ions. Along with normal iodine, the charged particles interact with starch to create it a blue-black color. The speeds of those transformations are constantly changing. As one overtakes the other, the color suddenly changes.
I can’t resist to think what some “people” (you know… I’m talking about them from time to time on this blog) would say when seeing such an experiment… “Wow, science can’t explain it, must be a miracle ! god’s hand is surely at work”.
And, on the other hand, some people keep digging, trying to figure out, research and eventually find and come up with a scientific explanation. Isn’t that much more fun (and helps our world to move forwared) than just dropping out god’s name when facing the unexplainable ?

The run for the Fake Steve Jobs, rumors and collectibles
Filed Under links, informatique, Insolite | 1 Comment
For those who don’t know it yet, there’s a really funny, well done, and that sometimes put the finger where it hurts when talking about Apple and more precisely about Steve Jobs. The one who knows it are already thinking about “The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs“, a delightful blog to add to your feeds if it hasn’t been done yet.
Regarding this website, there’s been a manhunt that started a few months ago to find out who’s the one behind it. It’s been adding even more spice to the whole story as several websites have been trying really hard to figure out (like Valleywag) some just reporting about it (Gizmodo and Engadget nontheless) and some going very strong not to let anyone know whom it is (like TUAW)
So, this whole story reminds me of the late 90’s when two Websites, AppleInsider and especially the late Mac The Knife who were really strong on rumors but, regarding second one, was also excellent on publishing stories about the inside of Apple in a time where, to my opinion, the Apple inside stories where much more exciting than today (yes, we were all hoping, wondering about the fate of Apple and the stock was… not going that well, remember ?). And this whole run for the Fake Steve made me think that lots of people were dying to know who was behing those sites which we never knew.
So, anyway, in honour of those great time, I’ve decided to auction the first part of my collection of Apple Fan t-shirts with 2 very special pieces, one that is from the unforgettable Mac The Knife MacWorld parties (certainly harder to attend than Apple own party) and an Apple Insider Banned in Cupertino one that was edited after the famous “coup” they made by revealing the famous Apple Cube to the world just before its official announcement.

Parc à vélo alternatif, originally uploaded by f.seven.
L’Unil inaugure une nouvelle génération de parcs à vélo écologiques, le campus de Dorigny se prête particulièrement bien à cette initiative puisque naturellement déjà équipé, ce qui permettra de surcroît de limiter l’investissement aux échelles d’accès
